The trailer for Niyi Akinmolayan’s The Set Up was released last week, and it gave us a full look at young drug smuggler Chike (Adesua Etomi-Wellington) who gets more than she bargains for and is drawn into a web when she is hired by a socialite (Jim Iyke) to assist with his scheme to marry a wealthy heiress (Dakore Egbuson-Akande). That’s the movie synopsis, and I wish the trailer was more stronger in coherently depicting the storyline ahead of its August 9 release.
That said, a new teaser has surfaced showing a cut of Jim Iyke being Jim Iyke. The actor’s early footprint in Nollywood revolved around his bad boy mystique, weaponised to make women fall in love with him. In this teaser for The Set Up, Iyke siphons that appeal as he tries to make a move to Dakore’s character. He grins, he eats an apple, there’s kissing. He’s Jim Iyke.
#TheSetUpFilm is a wicked seducer. Wetting our appetite left, right and center.#Aug9, can you come now?
Today on the menu is JIM IKE ???

When Bernard Dayo isn’t writing about pop culture, he’s watching horror movies and reading comics and trying to pretend his addiction to Netflix isn’t a serious condition.
