For a while now, there has been some controversy surrounding the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) following the launch of an investigation on alleged corruption in the commission. While the spotlight is on a few actors, more and more Nigerians have expressed interest in this story as many have taken to social media to share their opinions on the issue.
In a recent update, Joi Nunieh, the immediate Past Managing Director of the NDDC was reported to have had her house surrounded by some police officers preventing her from attending the hearing on the NDDC scheduled to hold today at the National Assembly, Abuja.

When this news broke out, Nigerians took to social media in reaction to the update, with many people faulting the idea of a Nigerian being a democratic state while blaming the police for allowing themselves to be tools for these abnormalities.
In Nigeria only those who have the resources can use the police as a tool to oppress.

Many people shared their reservations about the latest developments, stressing that the actions of whoever is responsible for the aborted arrest may be proving her points about alleged corruption going on in the NDDC.
However, while this was happening, Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, came to the rescue for Dr. Joi as he went in person to evacuate Joi from the circle of policemen that surrounded her house.

I am very happy Madame Joy Nunieh is from River state. If she was from somewhere like Anambra State, Aguleri Lionel Richie would have definitely diverted her call and put his phone on airplane mood. He only gets a boner when it involves Peter Obi. Thank u Wike for coming through.

I commend Gov. Wike for his bravery in rescuing Joi Nunieh from illegal arrest; he has proven that he's a Governor-General. Despite Party affiliation, he has shown that all Rivers Citizens are one. We wish @MBuhari can fight for Nigerians

I'm not surprised about the whole drama tho. That is why this Country is Nigeria. She must have been expecting the intimidation as well. Just that Akpabio picked wrong location… Lmao
He should have known Wike to be a no nonsense man now.
For that Niger Delta, Wike is the war.— Premier (@SodiqTade) July 16, 2020
For many Nigerians, the NDDC saga is one that many Nigerians can relate with, even on a lower scale as they pointed out that government officials also use intimidation as a tool for getting away with injustice.
