[The Music Blog] Nobody has an actual clue of what’s really going with the Psquare

The sense of deja vu that washed over fans in 2014 when Psquare first hinted the possibility they could be going their separate ways is in the air again. That year marked the first time in the group’s history that all parties involved in the Psquare seriously considered taking separate routes for the rest of their active careers. The fix was temporary, as reports in 2016 would later reveal both major halves of the Psquare had not been on speaking terms since the tail end of the previous year.

Interestingly, despite the seemingly public dimensions their squabbles have taken over the years, very little information on their internal troubles make it to the media. The first scare of a possible Psquare split in 2014 came via a lone tweet by Jude Okoye, the older third to Peter and Paul, who simply announced he was quitting the brand after ’10 years of hard work’.

The resurgence of that presumably solved feud in 2016 was a sparked by a rant thread of tweets by Peter, who declared he could no longer continue to be a part of Psquare if Jude continues to manage the affairs of the group. Peter is also casually responsible for informing the media of this third round of their on-going internal problems. Screenshots of a ‘Termination Letter’ addressed to his brothers Paul and Jude, circulated the media early Monday. Yet through all of their feuds and resolutions, only bare details of what actually transpired behind the scenes makes it to the media

Peter’s letter to the group’s lawyer, albeit, vague once again raised questions about the actual details of Psquare’s feud. The details the singer revealed to the media circle back to some of Peter’s earlier problems with Jude, Paul’s decision to single-handedly cancel the group’s American tour, as well as his own choice to choose his nuclear family over his troubled extended family, amidst death threats to the former. While it is speculated that the root of P-Square’s problems began with Peters’ decision to sign-on solo endorsement deals back in 2014, it’s almost hard to imagine that over a decade of an active career was not ample time enough for the group to have come to an understanding of sensitivities like revenue shares and allocation of brand profits. Understandably, success magnifies the lives of the rich and famous, but violent threats between brothers are a thing of a taboo to many cultures, especially when it involves sundry.

We can expect to see a lot of subliminal social media posts from all the parties involved in this feud in the coming days, but except one of the parties grants an exclusive tell-all interview with the press, it’s quite unlikely that anyone would have an inkling of the actual events happening in the lives of the Okoyes. Perhaps even if Psquare splits today, the group’s reservation on some of the more sensitive details of their feud is a sign there are still other ways blood can be thicker than water.

But nonetheless, what the actual fuck is going on Psquare?
