Beverage company, Pepsi has reacted criticisms against its recent advert which featured Hollywood star, Kendall Jenner.

The advert titled ‘Live for now momens anthem’ had come under fire for ‘misrepresenting’ the  Black Lives Matter movement.

Critocis have described the advert as a misrepresentation of the rising resistance movement in America.

But Pepsi in a statement has said the advert has been misunderstood.

The company said, “You have totally misunderstood—in fact, the ad that featured a docile, non-specific crowd holding signs that read “join the conversation” was incredibly #unfiltered:

“The creative showcases a moment of unity, and a point where multiple storylines converge in the final advert. It depicts various groups of people embracing a spontaneous moment, and showcasing Pepsi’s brand rallying cry to ‘Live For Now,’ in an exploration of what that truly means to live life unbounded, unfiltered and uninhibited.”

In a briefer statement via People, Pepsi said the ad symbolises unity.

“This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.”
