The Media Blog: The Spot is ending and we don’t know what to do

It’s been 4 years already? Yeah, we know when EbonyLife TV launched but time really has flown, hasn’t it?

Time in which The Spot has grown to be one of the most stable and reliable fixtures on our tv screens. It’s amazing we’re saying this given our initial reactions to the show, which ranged from boredom to annoyance at times.

But the show has done a good job of making a legitimate star out of Zainab Balogun (who still has a bright, bright future ahead of her) and making Lamide Akintobi and Ebuka Obi-Uchendu even bigger than they were before, and showing new sides to them.

Zainab’s post announcing the finale of the show really says it best.

We particularly agree with the bit about the chemistry with the hosts. The best part of each episode really was watching Ebuka, Zainab and Lamide interact. It hasn’t been the same with Ebuka gone – though Mawuli really is fantastic.

Whatever it is that they’ll be doing next, we can’t wait to see.
