The Media Blog: Bye Bye Shuga

No, the show isn’t getting canceled. Not anytime soon, as far as we know.

But after 2 seasons in Nigeria, it’s time to pack up and set up shop somewhere else again.

The fifth season of the show was just announced to be set in South Africa, which means saying goodbye not just to Lagos, but to pretty much the entire Nigerian cast.

Don’t worry, you’ll still get to see “Lovebirds Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyi, known for his role as ‘Femi’: a Nigerian music promoter who’s been living with HIV for 4 years, and Adesua Etomi, playing the role of Sheila’.”

Other actors and characters include Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee, (playing “a dissatisfied trophy wife with a wandering eye” called Storm,) Thuso Mbedo from South Africa (playing Ipeleng, “an ambitious schoolgirl who’s raising her little brother after the death of their mum,”) and 17-year old Jezriel Skei, (a soccer-player named ‘Q’.)

The show premieres in March of 2017, so trust us to keep our eyes peeled.
