Nollywood actress blames social media for failed celebrity marriages

Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar has blamed the rapid rise of social media for the recent failures of marriages.

Speaking to Encomium magazine in a recent interview, the actress said for a marriage to last, both partners have to possess a ‘serious’ knowledge of each other which transcends just ‘physical’ knowledge.

“People need to know themselves seriously. When I say seriously, I mean spiritually before getting married. People only know themselves physically, not spiritually, so they end up getting bored with each other.”

She then went on to lay the blame for the recent failures in marriages at the doorstep of social media; explaining that “Marriage these days is not based on happiness and genuine love.”

“These days, people are just too much into social media, that’s why marriages are crashing. Marriage these days is not based on happiness and genuine love. Let me ask, who is that poor person that has married a billionaire son? So, why won’t marriage crash when it’s not based on happiness and genuine love?”
