“Many stay away because they love our country” | Donald Trump attacks the NFL

U.S President Donald Trump has been in a war of words with players from both the NBA and NFL, earning himself the label of “bum” from one of the most successful athletes on the planet and, has attacked the NFL once again.

One of the US President’s targets was Stephen Curry, one of the best and most-loved players for California’s Golden State Warriors, who won the NBA championship in June.

It’s traditional for teams to visit the White House after winning the championship. The problem was, Curry didn’t want to go because, as he told ESPN, he wanted to “inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country”.

That prompted the President to tweet, “Going to the White House is considered a great honour (sic) for a championship team.”

“Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”

On Sunday, he said if fans stay away from the competition, the players will surely stop disrespecting the flag
