Manchester United owner, Malcolm Glazer dies at 85

Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer has died at the age of 85.

The American businessman also owned NFL franchise the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Glazer purchased Manchester United in 2005 and in that time saw the club win the Premier League five times and the Champions League once.

He died on Wednesday at home in America.

Rescue of Chibok girls remains priority of government says Maku

The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, said the rescue of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls remained a priority of the Federal Government.

The minister made the remark during a post Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Maku decried the situation where some protesters were casting aspersions at the federal government instead of the abductors. Read more….

Scores of young men armed with bottles and stones on Wednesday attacked women protesters staging a demonstration over the plight of Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram, an activist said.

Hadiza Bala Usman, a leader of the #BringBackOurGirls Movement, told newsmen that the men beat some of the protesters with chairs and bottles. Read more.…

Deputy Senate president says state of emergency will not stop elections in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Wednesday, said elections would hold in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in spite of the ongoing state of emergency in the areas.

Ekweremadu made the disclosure when a delegation from the European Union (EU), led by Mr Aloiz Peterlee, visited him in Abuja.

He noted that the right of citizens to vote was one of the fundamental human rights that was not suspended under the state of emergency. Read more….

Stop insulting Jonathan, PDP leader tells Nigerian youth

The National Coordinator, Peoples’ Democratic Party Youth Frontier (PDPYF), Austin Usman, on Tuesday asked Nigerians to desist from insulting the office of the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan.

Stating that the seat of the President is the most exalted throne in every country, Mr. Usman advised Nigerians, especially youth, to refrain from using strong words while referring to the President.

The strong words he said include appellations like clueless, fool, and stupid. Read more.…
