Major shake-up in the army, top officers affected

The Nigerian Army has announced a change in some of its divisions, formations and training schools.

The change sees the redeployment of Maj. Gen Leo Irabor, the Theatre Commander of the Operation, Lafiya Dole, the military operation to flush out Boko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Irabor will therefore head the Multinational Joint Task Force while, Maj Gen Attahiru is now the Theatre Commander.

Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Sani Usman, in a statement announced that the army has reposted 147 officers.

He said, “In a bid to re-strategise, the Nigerian Army has posted in 147 officers into Operation Lafiya Dole, some divisions, formations and training schools. Some of the postings are; Major General RO Yusuf, Commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, is now the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Minna, while Major General A Oyebade, General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, will move to the army headquarters as Chief of Logistics.

“Major General I Attahiru is now the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, while Major General Leo Irabor will now move to Multinational Joint Task Force, as the Field Commander. Major General PJ Dauke has been posted from 3 Division to 81 Division as GOC and Brigadier General BI Ahanotu will be acting GOC 3 Division.”
