Magu should be arrested and presented before November 7 | Reps order

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu.

The warrant was issued over Magu’s refusal to appear before the lower chamber.

Background:

The House of Representatives had asked Magu to appear before it after former First Lady, Patience Jonathan sent a petition against him.

Mrs. Jonathan had claimed that Magu was after her for no reason.

What is happening:

  • The committee said Magu should be arrested and presented before it on November 7.
  • It gave Magu up to October 4 to appear before it.
  • Chairman of the panel, Rep Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (Abia-PDP), said it had sent several letters inviting the EFCC chairman to appear before it.
  • All the members of the committee agreed that Magu should be arrested.
