‘If anything happens to me, my family should hold Wike responsible’ – APC Senator

An All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate, Magnus Abe, has alleged that Governor Nyesom Wike, is after his life.

Abe, who will be contesting in the forthcoming rerun election in Rivers State, said on Saturday that Wike had conspired with militants to move against him.

Speaking during a radio programme in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Abe said Wike had sponsored a meeting of militants- whom were saddled with the responsibility of working against him.

While he wasn’t specific about the nature of the danger he’s in, Abe noted that the governor and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state should be held responsible should anything happen to him.

A statement released by his spokesman, Parry Benson, said: “If anything happens to me, Nigerians, Rivers, Ogoni people and my family should hold Governor Nyesom Wike and his PDP people responsible because the threat against my life is too much.”

Abe said there’s a possibility of him being attacked and the state government would say that Ogoni people killed him due to the crisis in the area.

He however, stated that he was well loved by the Ogoni people and as such, they would not do anything to harm him.

The Rivers state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Austin Tam-George, has reacted to Abe’s allegation- which he described as baseless and diversionary.

Tam-George said: “Mr. Magnus Abe’s allegations are baseless and diversionary. He needs to curb his neurosis for power.”

“I doubt that the Ogonis will ever forgive him for inciting violence against his own people all in pursuit of his selfish political ambition.”
