Award-winning author, Chimamanda Adichie revealed that she was sexually abused by a powerful media man as a teenager.

The award-winning author made this known during an address at the Stockholm Forum for Gender Equality.

Adichie narrated that she wrote a book of poems and thought he would help her promote the book. She said he slipped his hands into her bra and squeezed her breasts.

“I was so shocked that I did nothing for seconds but then, I pushed his hand away, gently, nicely, because I didn’t want to offend him. Later that day, I broke out in a rash on my face, neck, and chest, as though my body was recoiling, as though my body was saying what my lips had not said,” she revealed.

Singer Wande Coal dismissed the story that he abducted his own child.

His babymama, Temitope Ogunnusi had claimed that the singer impregnated her and made her drop her out of secondary school in 2008- then his mother took away their child.

“I honestly do not want to say much because at the end of the day, this is family and Temitope is the mother of the child, but I must clarify a few things she has used to attack my character and the reputation of my family.

“She has failed to tell the public that she did not tell me she was pregnant with my son. She married another man and claimed that the child was his and she never told me”, he added.

He noted that she is free to visit her child whenever she wants.

The FCT Police Command said 115 members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) were taken into custody following Monday’s protests in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Festus Keyamo (SAN) as the Director, Strategic Communications for his 2019 presidential campaigns.

Keyamo becomes the official spokesperson for Buhari’s campaign for the 2019 presidential election.

Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Agwatashi, Obi local government area, Nasarawa, stoned the convoy of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Al-Makura had visited the camp with security chiefs in the state to assess situation arising from the killing of 32 persons by suspected herdsmen.

It was gathered that when the governor was about to address the IDPs, some youth in the camp became unruly and started chatting different slogans which made the governor to leave the camp.

On his way out, the youth began to pelt the governor’s convoy with stones, compelling the police to disperse them with tear gas.

Reacting, Al-Makura attributed the situation to frustration as a result of the challenges the IDPs faced.

“The reaction from the people is understandable given their plight and we have to use diplomacy to address the issues,” he said.

Nigeria’s economy which grew by 0.8 percent in 2017 will end this year, with a 2.1 percent growth, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted.

It, however, projected a slow down to 1.9 percent growth next year, in its latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) Report launched in Washington DC, United States where the annual World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings are ongoing.

Hoodlums led by suspended Senator Ovie Omo-agege stormed the Senate chamber and made away with the mace – disrupting plenary.

Omo-Agege was later arrested but released almost immediately.

A statement signed by his Senior Legislative Assistant, Lucky Ajos entitled: “Senator Omo-Agege went to work today like other senators; He did not remove the mace of the Senate” said: “We are aware of several media reports suggesting that Senator Omo-Agege personally removed or encouraged anyone to remove the Mace of the Senate. This weighty allegation is not true at all.”

Ekweremadu also met and briefed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the invasion of the Senate.

After meeting with Osinbajo, Ekweremadu told reporters: “I am sure you are aware of the Senate invasion today and we have to come to brief the Vice President because the President is not in town, so it was appropriate for him to know what transpired because we are in a democracy; we are all in one government and it is the responsibility of the President or the Vice President to ensure that there is law and order in the country.”

Still on the matter, a high court sitting in Abuja granted Omo-Agege, an interim order restraining the police, Department of Sate Service (DSS) and other law enforcement bodies from arresting him.

The mace has since been recovered – under a bridge in the FCT.

President Muhammadu Buhari says many Nigerian youth just want to sit down and do nothing, banking on the notion that Nigerian is an oil-rich nation.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster, the president said a lot of Nigerian youth have not been to school and they want everything free.

“About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one,” President Buhari said.

“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”

In reaction, Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central) said president Buhari must apologise to the youth over the unfortunate comments credited to him.

President Buhari said that his administration is more preoccupied with the three-pronged focus of the current administration than the 2019 presidential elections.

Speaking in a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister, Theresa May on Monday, President Buhari explained that he is still more bothered about security and the Nigerian economy.

“We have elections next year, politicians are already preoccupied with the polls, but I am bothered more about security and the economy.”

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah has said the people from Northern Nigeria will still come out in 2019 to vote President Muhammadu Buhari.

His words: “Indeed, the Buhari project presents us with an interesting view. The average northerner has become far more impoverished under Buhari than he was under (former President Goodluck) Jonathan. But they will still vote for Buhari because they see him as the only one who can help bring their derelict elite to order. It is a strange appeal but that is it. They believe their corrupt elite are above the law. They were seduced with Sharia because they believed it was going to help them punish their own elite, who they see as being above the law of Nigeria. These are the issues.”
