So here’s the thing with privilege – unlike several other things like oxygen, life and brilliance, it’s unevenly distributed. Things like family of birth, nationality of birth, opportunity, exposure which are a foundation for several other things like race and wealth are a function of sheer luck.
And it’s okay to be privileged, except you’re Leke Adeboye – you don’t accept that all you have is merely privilege (a function of luck) or be empathetic with your privilege. Ignorance!
So here’s what exactly happened:
Son and Personal Assistant to Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the RCCG worldwide recently put out a video where he encouraged people albeit sarcastically to engage in farming and trade by barter instead of writing the church for help.
He described those seeking scholarship to international universities from the church as ‘jokers’, advising them to save enough or attend other cheaper schools in the country.
The distasteful video ended with the show of vanity – “obviously not in Nigeria: feel the caps, feel the sunglasses”.
Watch the video below
Whatever inspired that video must have come from Lucifer himself because not only has he put his name out there, he has dragged his father and the Redeemed Christian Church of God into the conversation.
At the end, Leke Adeboye might just be in the category of the usual rich, spoilt pastor’s kid and his access to sensitive and vulnerable information is driving him nuts.
With Love.
