The ongoing power play between embattled Senator Dino Melaye and Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello has seen a number of interesting twists and turn since the alleged move to recall Melaye from the Senate became a major topic.

We’ve seen photo proof of his constituents setting off the recall process by queueing to append signatures to the recall document (he reportedly got 180,000 of them) and going as far as submitting their petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dino Melaye has gone the whole nine yards to make a joke of the entire situation insisting the Kogi governor is the mastermind of the process to have him disgraced. Melaye, being the clown that he is, maintains the claims that “dead people” were enlisted in signing the recall document.

For us the Nigerian audience, it’s the perfect theater and we’ll refrain from picking sides until we witness the actual end. Apart from the cool fact that it will be a historical moment in Nigerian politics to see a sitting Senator sent all the way back home by those who voted him in, we honestly would love to see Melaye shook up by this.

But there’s a new twist to the story! Dino’s insistence on the lack of authenticity in the recall process may have been confirmed by this document. A constituent, Sanya Grace Folake has sworn an affidavit claiming she and other constituents were tricked into releasing their voter’s card for fertilizer distribution.

From what we read in this document, we have reason to believe that the people of Dino’s constituency are an ignorant lot to allow themselves be played like this (considering this affidavit is authentic). But we also have more than enough reasons to doubt the genuineness of the document because Dino is capable of going extra lengths. If you know, you know.
