#LagosRealFakeLife is not exactly there but it tells the story like never before

What can we say? Lagos is indeed a centre of excellence and everything is done extraordinaire, more reason why ‘packaging’ is an indispensable lifestyle as a resident.

The film – Lagos Real Fake Life – directed by star actor, Mike Ezuruonye has helped tell the story of the kind of lifestyles residents of Lagos choose to live, with the humour that usually comes with ‘cinema-worthy’ Nigerian films these days.

The film starts with MC Lively, real name Sani Michael, who gives us – not- the regular introduction to a film but the one that makes you start laughing from the beginning. This gives you a hint that ‘you will shine teeth’ till the very end.

It continues with Nonso Diobi and Mike Ezuruonye, hanging out with girls – at an expensive place of course. And upon understanding that their bill might be too much to handle, they run; leaving the girls stranded.

If you are not a resident or you are a resident and might not understand why some people are so rich, more appropriately behave so expensive and lavish, this film might be for you.

The surprise came towards the end when two girls who were thought to be the only real girls in town turned out to be just like others; packaged materials. Also, IK Ogbonna, who met Mercy Aigbe (the stand-alone runs girl just like Alakada) who everyone thought was the hardworking man turned around to say he is a hustler and is a deportee from Europe.

However, the word ‘fake’ was mentioned too many times and sometimes unnecessarily. Common! We already know what the film is about, just tell us the story and move on. Don’t keep trying to remind us at every scene that Lagos residents indeed live fake lives using only one word – Okay, I used it too.

Anyway, with the addition of Odunlade Adekola who became a spoken word teacher at some point, shadow appearances by Emmanuella and Mark Angel, Josh2funny, Lagos Real Fake Life continues the conversation on the downsides of trying to fit in where you do not really belong.

One more thing – you should watch the film!
