On Tuesday 15 May 2018, Moghalu Prof Kingsley Moghalu one of the young emerging aspirants contesting for the post of President in the country continued his “To build a Nation” tour in Anambra State, Awka. The town hall meeting was filled with supporters from all 21 local government area in Anambra.

Professor Moghlau delivered a powerful and energetic speech which had supporters jumping out of their seats in applause for the Presidential hopeful. Professor Moghalu explained in detail fundamental issues with various sectors in the country and what his plans are to improve these sectors and move Nigeria forward.

One of the topics discussed and which was very well received at the town hall was his plans on restructuring the country. That is, dividing Nigeria into six geopolitical regions and allowing each region to develop at their own pace and generate their own income. Each region will then pay a percentage of its profits to the federal government. “This will bring about stability and cohesion in the country”, said Moghalu.

Moghalu also spoke about his plan to tackle unemployment by introducing a venture capital fund. It will be recalled that he announced this during his official declaration to contest the 2019 Presidency in Abuja on 28, February, 2018. Explaining to the crowd in his native Igbo language, the 2019 presidential aspirant broke down the process by which this will work at the Town hall in Awka. “The Federal Government will invest N500 billion while private sector investors will be beseeched to invest another N500 billion which will form the solid pool from which innovative and enterprising Nigerians can source equity funding in order to get their businesses up and running.”

He further explained that the reason for this is that credit financing has been inaccessible and is an unsustainable way to ensure economic development and job creation.

The crowd really came alive when Professor Moghalu spoke about his plan to make his administration one that will ensure 50:50 gender parity. Professor Moghalu promised to make sure that 50% of his political appointments will be made up of women with the proper experience, education and who are qualified for the jobs.

Attendees then got the chance to engage the aspirant in a question and answer session which saw his supporters get involved further.

The town hall concluded with the inauguration of the Anambra arm of the “Kinsley Moghalu Support Organisation” (KIMSO). The support organisation has been taking shape across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory down to ward level. The KIMSO is expected to grow rapidly as the 2019 general elections draws nearer.
