by Azubuike Azikiwe

Police officers of the Ndiegoro Division, Aba, Abia state, have arrested Emmanuel Ndukwe, a landlord, for cutting down two of his tenants with a machete.

The incident happened at 2, Ogechi Street, off Ohanku road, after Ndukwe accused his tenant and his wife of being responsible for the death of his 7-year-old daughter.

Ndukwe alleged that the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Maduabuchi were behind the illness which took the life of his daughter.

After accusing the couple, a confrontation ensued between him and them, which led to him repeatedly striking the couple with a machete, after which he fled the house, believing that the couple were dead.

Neighbours were alerted by the screams for help, by the couple who met they met writhing in pains in the pool of their blood. They were rushed to a private hospital, where they were said to be responding to treatment.

The matter was later reported to the police at Ndiegoro and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Crescent Mammah, mobilised his men to arrest the landlord.

A senior police officer, who craved anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying the man would be charged to court after investigations have been concluded.
