Controversial rapper Kanye West has led the list of nominees for the 2012 Grammy Awards. He picked up seven nominations including Song of the Year for his ‘All of the Lights’ single.
British soulstress Adele, rock band Foo Fighters and pop singer Bruno Mars followed closely with six nods apiece . Adele and Mars will compete for Album of the Year and Record of the Year honors. Other artistes who made a strong showing are Lil’ Wayne, Katy Perry and Rihanna.
Afrobeat singer Femi Kuti also scored his third nomination and second in two years in the World Music Album category. Here’s hoping third time is the charm for him.
The nominations were announced last night in a live concert hosted by rapper LL Cool J.
The 54th Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday 12, February 2012.
