Kaduna Declaration: NANS declares support for One Nigeria, to protest in Kaduna

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has declared its support for One Nigeria, saying it will embark on a unity and peace rally.

The President of NANS, Aruna Kadiri in a press briefing yesterday in Enugu said, according to Daily Post, “Concerning the June 16, 2017, so-called Kaduna Declaration, NANS wishes to assure all Nigerians living anywhere in Nigeria that there should be no reason to fear or panic.”

He said, “we are ready to protect the unity of Nigeria, and hereby implore security agencies to be effective in disposing of their duty and justify the huge tax citizens pay for security vote.

“We will be protesting in the city of Kaduna on a peace and unity rally from September 30-October 3, 2017.

“This rally is to encourage people in the North and Nigeria of the indivisibility of the nation,” adding that the Federal Government should involve stakeholders and find a lasting solution to the ongoing tension in Nigeria.

“We are saying that Nigeria must be one in fairness and equity. All agitations must be considered by the government, we believe that with the steps we are taking Nigeria must be one.

“In-between all these agitations there must be a lasting solution which will keep Nigeria united, just and equitable. It is very urgent because we are in a state of emergency where youth corps members seek to redeploy on security grounds.”
