A Makurdi court has locked Ortyom Dyorugh, a 20-year old, 300 level Accounting student of the Benue State University, Makurdi behind bars for allegedly indulging in homosexuality with a seven-year old Isaac Chivirter Shamigah.

Dyorugh allegedly forced Shamigah to suck his penis at the Judges Quarters area of Makurdi town where they both lived. The charge preferred against him at the Chief Magistrate Court in Makurdi was alleged gross indecency.

According to the First Information Report, FIR, which was filed by police prosecutor, Sergeant Patrick Sunday,  the said encounter between Dyorugh and Shamigah occurred in an uncompleted building within the vicinity of Judges Quarters. Dyorugh reportedly warned the 7-year old that if he refused to do as he said, he would kill him.

The prosecutor also informed the court that on three different occasions, Dyorugh ejaculated into Shamigah’s mouth during the alleged sucking, after which he reiterated his threat to kill Shamigah if he talked.

The parents of the lad noticed that the young boy began to act strangely after the act, which prompted them to inquire. After much prompting, Shamigah opened up and narrated all that happened between him and the Dyorugh, as well as the alleged threat to his life.

It was then that the boy’s father, Rev Clement Shamigah reported the matter to the Criminal Investigation Bureau, CIB of the Benue State Police Command and Dyorugh was subsequently arrested.

Dyorugh has however denied the allegation.

Trial chief magistrate, Lilian Tsumba directed that the accused be remanded in prison custody at the Makurdi Medium Security Prison.
