French engineer, Francis Collomp who was abducted by men suspected to be members of the dreaded Islamic terrorist group, Ansaru, has escaped.

Collomp who has been held in captivity since last December reportedly escaped yesterday in a village Dan Magaji, near Zaria, Kaduna.

He was kidnapped in Rimi village by unknown gunmen who have since held him captive.

Kaduna Police Commissioner, Femi Adenaike, who briefed newsmen today said the kidnapped man was able to escape on Saturday from the kidnappers’ den.

Adenaike did not confirm whether there was a military raid or assault where he was kept.

“The French National ran away from the den of Kidnappers and ran to Dan Magaji Police station,” Adenaike said.

Collomp has now been moved to Abuja from Kaduna. He will be handed over to officials of the French Embassy.
