According to CNN, Former Senator Joe Lieberman is the leading contender to be named FBI director.

President Trump is said to have found the former Democrat quite “agreeable” after meeting him. Sources got the impression that it is “highly likely” the President is close to making it official.  At a lunch, Thursday, President Trump also told television anchors he was close to making his decision.

“I’m very close to choosing an FBI director,” the President said, though he did not specify whether his choice was Lieberman.
Joe Lieberman, 75  was a former Connecticut senator  and was Al Gore’s vice presidential nominee in 2000. Though he was a Democrat, he isn’t very much liked by them. He switched to independent after losing to a primary challenger in the Senate 2006 and also supported Republican Sen. John McCain’s presidential bid in 2008 over former President Barack Obama.
Lieberman has been a senior counsel at the New York law firm Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP and serves on a number of boards since he left the Senate.
