Isoken Aruede: Why do we hold grudges? [NEXT]

by Isoken Aruede

Why do we hold a grudge?

Perhaps you and I are ignorant

In the stench of our previous rants;

Not realizing what we really need.

What we have to avoid

Is the malice that destroys,

If we want our relationship to succeed.

Communication is the key,

And where the problem seems to be.

We clearly know this fact,

Yet we engage in childish acts.

Why?

Why stay angry at each other

If we call ourselves lovers,

And blame the inevitability of conflict?

We could talk it out with open-minds,

And solve our problems with a bit more time.

But we choose to hide,

Behind our pointing fingers as guns;

Ready, Aim, Shoot with blames,

Forgetting where we kept our bent-back thumbs,

As the smoke of accusation lingers everywhere.

On this crooked road,

I cracked the code;

There’s a pattern in which our grudges go,

And deep within your mind,

You know

Just how the events will unfold.

We’ll stay mute for hours,

After fights longer than towers,

Then leave it behind in a jar,

Of piled up scars,

Concealed more than often,

And temporarily forgotten.

Then what happens next?

A facade of intense sex,

In our series of parasitic vex.

No.

Not today.

Let’s work it out,

The civilised way.
