Isn’t it time for a major cabinet shake-up in Aso Rock?

The current state of affairs in the nation is worrisome. President Buhari is out of the country and Nigerians have no idea when he would return.

The president’s absence has made the country a butt of jokes from foreign media outfits. Over the weekend, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria mocked Nigeria during the quiz and trivia segment of his show, “The Global Public Square (GPS)”.

Beyond Zakaria’s obvious jibe which should be taken seriously, things appear to be on a standstill in the country. ‘Defeated’ Boko Haram insurgents have resumed hostilities like they were never routed from the dreaded Sambisa Forest. The resurgence of the terrorists is one that calls for worry among those heading the security agencies. Last week some NNPC workers alongside some staff of the University of Maiduguri were kidnapped. In a rescue attempt, many soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed by the terrorists.

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo may have ordered the service chiefs to relocate the Maiduguri and lead the battle from the front, which is good in itself, but it’s high time Aso Rock had some house cleaning with APC’s broom.

With the recent ‘Trumpwave’ in the White House, Osinbajo can do well to take a cue from the US president by taking out the weed from the presidency.

The information dissemination from Aso Rock especially from Buhari’s media aides has left Nigerians more confused than ever. The double-speak of the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun on Nigeria’s economy and whether we would borrow or not leaves more questions than answers as to her capacity to lead the country out of recession. The Ministry of Education under Adamu Adamu has only been in the news for the mundane issue over Christain Religious Knowledge and Islamic Religious Knowledge.

It’s time to drain the swamp.

  1. To me in my view the office of a President need both Good and bad character. It does not really matter how one become a king, what matter most is your achievements as a king! Perhaps they think that their rival appointee will wish any progress in this regime?
