US President Donald Trump earlier today gave his first UN address at the 72nd General Assembly in New York. Trump’s speech which a Senior administration official described as “deeply philosophical address” was a candid exposition of his thoughts about the United Nations.

The UN should kick against terrorism
The President advised the world leaders to take an uncompromising stand against terrorism and increasing inhumane acts across the world. Trump challenged the UN to live up to its objective of sustaining a world that trades conflict and strife for harmony and peace, a world bounded by law and order.
The North Korea rhetoric
Beyond the fire and fury warning, Trump was more fierce and specific in escalating the North Korea’s regime defiance to warnings and sanctions to stop its pursuit of nuclear weapons. Trump said, “No nation on Earth has an interest in seeing this band of criminals arm itself with nuclear weapons and missiles”.
The President warned that the US is ready to destroy North Korea if it is forced to defend itself or its allies calling Kim “rocket man”. He, therefore, argued that the only acceptable future for the regime is denuclearisation.
The Venezuelan government
President Trump admonished the world leaders to mediate in the turmoil in Venezuela, slamming the country’s leader, Nicholas Maduro for inflicting pain and great suffering on the good people of the South American state.
Trump said: “The Venezuelan people are starving, and their country is collapsing. Their democratic institutions are being destroyed. The situation is completely unacceptable, and we cannot stand by and watch.”
Iran government and prevalence of terrorism
President Trump berated the Iranian government for sponsoring and giving room for terrorism to thrive at the expense of the lives of its people and nation building. He accused the Iranian regime of turning a wealthy nation with a rich history into “an economically depleted rogue state whose chief exports are violence, bloodshed and chaos.”
He said, “We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilising activities while building dangerous missiles, and we cannot abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual destruction of a nuclear program”.
Facing the leaders, Trump insisted, “It is time for the entire world to join us in demanding that Iran’s government end its pursuit of death and destruction.”
