Brigadier General Musa Hassan (rtd) has called on the Federal Government to secure the nation’s borders technologically.

The veteran security expert expressed his desire to see Nigeria join the rest of the world in fighting against terrorism with updated technological gadgets.

He further stated that this was the practice in other climes, expressing optimism that ‘this will assist greatly in curbing terrorism in the country.’

The Leadership reports:

He opined that it was not enough for the military to post security operatives to man the borders.

Hassan, who spoke with newsmen in Ilorin yesterday, called on the federal government to devise modern means of protecting the nation’s borders against infiltration by external aggressors.

He suggested proper security and frequent monitoring of the borders as a way of checking the activities of insurgents in the country.

He dismissed insinuations that military incursion into governance was responsible for the current problems being faced by the country, recalling that most Nigerians who worked with the military governments were civilians.

He, however, expressed support to the current civilian administration in Nigeria, stressing that even if the politicians make mistakes, they should correct themselves instead of the military intervening.

Hassan urged politicians to fulfil their electioneering promises while the electorate should always vote with sincerity of purpose during elections.
