Nigerian singer and entertainer, D’banj, is at the peak of conversation today on Nigeria Twitter, with an update to the rape accusations levied against him. Nigerians on social media have reacted as many expressed what the update from the singer means to them.
Recall that lifestyle model and stylist, Seyitan Babalola, had accused the singer of raping her some years ago, which was followed with speculations that the singer kidnapped Seyitan and manipulated her to recant her accusation on social media by deleting tweets of the accusation.
However, after much debate on Twitter, D’banj has on Monday replied the audience that called for his suspension on many platforms through a video where he was seen singing and dancing.

Taking to his social media account, D’banj shared a video of himself dancing to his 2008 hit song, ‘Olorun Maje’ (God Forbid) – using the song as an address to his critics stated that he was innocent until proven guilty. In the Instagram post, he urged Nigerians to stop social media trials as he advocated against rape and human rights violations. Nigerians are however, reacting to the development:

While many tweeps berated him for his choice of response to such a sensitive issue, a few others applauded him as they stressed that his performance came with a message that says he is innocent until proven guilty. They stressed that Nigerians ought to wait for the course of justice to take its full cause before ‘cancelling’ the artist from their airwaves.
