Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, has moved to play down expectations on new summer signing, Eden Hazard, by asking fans and the media, to give him time to adapt to the rigours of the English Premiership.

“Of course we are looking for Eden to be incisive – but we have to be patient,” he said on the club’s official website. “He is a young man, he has come from a different league in France and we need to give him time to adapt.”

The Italian has been active this summer, and has already spent more than £60 million on Hazard, Oscar, and Marin, but insisted that he is not about to change his tactical patterns.

“There will not be radical changes. We will try to make some changes,” he said. “With the integration of these new players, inevitably we will change how we play a bit. But I never said we were going to play attacking football. We will play to try and win games.”

He also confirmed that the club is looking to make more acquisitions this summer, “if there is a good opportunity for us”.
