Have you seen the Lenovo selfie flash? Here’s how it works

by Muyiwa Matuluko

Necessity, they say, is the mother of all inventions. And it’s the selfie age afterall. It you love taking selfies just as much as the next person, you’d probably love this new gadget from Lenovo. It’s called the Selfie Flash

Everyone who has taken a selfie before knows how horrible front (aka selfie) cameras can often be, so much so that most folks don’t mind the extra discomfort using back cameras, as long as they get that perfect shot. Well with Lenovo’s Selfie Flash contraption, you never have to worry about your front camera’s quality again.

The Selfie Flash fits perfectly in the same port where you fix your headphones and “emits a steady stream of light from eight diffused LEDs to brighten your pictures”. It will cost about $30 at launch.

Lenovo are not the first to come up with the idea of using flash technology with front phone cameras. Tecno beat them to it with the Tecno Phantom Z. However, while Lenovo’s contraption is compatible with just about any Android devices, via a proprietary app, Tecno’s solution comes in-built with the Phantom Z.
