Faith finds a way, the second time around.

Faith Douglas Aghaheron

Age: 18

Faith Douglas first showed up on Nigerian Idol in Season 1 when she impressed the judges and got a gold ticket to the Dream Studios. However, the budding singer had to drop out of the show for medical reasons. . This did not deter the vibrant 17-year-old who vowed to return in Season 2 to prove herself once more to the judges.

Now 18, and oozing with confidence and vocal control, the judges fell in love with her again as she sang Aretha Franklin’s ‘Natural Woman’ this time around. “After what happened in Season 1, I promised myself I would be back in Season 2. Here I am again and this time I was lucky enough again to get the gold ticket to the Dream Studios. I am so happy, this means everything to me, ” Douglas said.

A man for the fame, money and possibilities

Godwin Onoja

Age: 25

25-year-old Godwin Onoja’s passion for music is so infectious, the effect of his sound can be felt in every room. The fifth child from a family of nine, Onoja is a native of Benue State but resides in Abuja.  “I am from a supportive and understanding family, he says with a wide smile. My mother has always told me that I started singing from a very tender age.

Godwin is focused not just on the experience, but also on the ultimate prize of winning the competition. “I want to be the next Nigerian Idol. I also want to make use of the platform that would be given to me and then most of all, I want to win!  I really want to make money and fame,’’ he says firmly with a sly smile.

A spoonful of honey and music

Honey Adun

Age: 23

Honey Adun’s unique voice flows as sweetly as his name. The last in a family with ten children from Benue state, Honey is the pampered baby of the Adun house hold. “I grew up in a little town on the outskirts of Abuja called Bwari, it is a peaceful place, once you drive into Bwari, you feel calm and inspired,” he said.

The self professed cartoon addict impressed the judges with a rendition of his own song, ‘I dey’ and received high praise from all three judges. Jeffrey Daniel called him a good musician and Charly Boy praised his stage presence while Yinka Davies appeared overwhelmed by his talent.

A singer on a wheelchair is ready to fly

Sylva Sillimenti

23 years old, Musician

Sillimenti was not born lame, the tragedy of the loss of his limbs occurred when he was seven years old. “I was not born disabled, this just happened to me one day when I was seven. It is as a result of enemies. They knew that I would become someone great and they wanted to cut my life short. To the glory of God, I am alive today and doing the will of God.”

Sillimenti promised:  “I will make it one day, I will become the next Nigerian Idol”.

All the way from Gambia

Deborah Romeo

23-year-old OAP

23-year-old Deborah Romeo is already a popular On Air Personality in Gambia. After following the show on Facebook and Twitter last year, she made up her mind to become the next Idol.

When it was time for the Lagos auditions this year, she booked a flight, packed her bags and found her way here.

This leap of faith was worth it as the judges were very impressed with her, giving her the three ayes that took her further into the competition. “I have a beautiful voice,” she said excitedly. “I have what it takes to become the next Nigerian Idol. This is all I have been dreaming of, now it is finally coming true. I believe I can make it to the top as the next Nigerian Idol.”

 

A wandering singer finds a home

Obinna Michael

21-year-old student

A student of Metallurgy at the Lagos State University, Obinna Michael is already on his way to charming the ladies with his beautiful voice and guitar skills. For this young student, it has been a long and winding road to Nigerian Idol. “I have been attending auditions and been rejected. It was a very hard time for me but I resolved to improve myself. Each and every time, I have gotten better and here I am today, with a golden ticket to the Dream Studios.”

Obinna is confident he stands a chance to win the competition amongst a pool of other very talented musicians. “Winning Nigerian Idol will change everything for me,” he says with a huge smile. “My career, my family, everything would change for me!”
