Four soldiers killed by IED explosion in Borno

An officer and three soldiers on patrol in Borno on Thursday have died after encountering a buried IED between Kangarwa and Alagarno village, the Army has confirmed.

Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday.

He said three other soldiers sustained injuries , while stating that the vehicle was damaged.

Usman added that three terrorists who planted the bombs were discovered and neutralised.

The army spokesman added that troops stationed at Banki in Borno rendered humanitarian assistance to over 887 Nigerian refugees who returned from Cameroon since Tuesday.

According to Usman, one Jada Hachaba who was abducted by Boko Haram was handed over to her mother at Gulak in Adamawa.

The army spokesman explained that Hachaba escaped from the terrorists’ captivity.

At Buni Yadi in Yobe, Usman said troops discovered a 122mm D30 unexploded ordinance inside an uncompleted building at the Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate.
