On Sunday night, two female housemates Ella and Kimoprah were evicted from the new season of Big Brother Naija, making it a total of four women already eliminated from the show. Mind you, women have been the only ones eliminated since evictions started two weeks ago – Ella and Kimoprah joining Avala and Isilomo – and Mavin Global boss Don Jazzy was quick to tweet that women getting evicted from the show shows that women don’t support each other.
All the ladies leaving one by one just shows how women don’t really support each other. It’s Sad. #bbnaija

Sure, it’s quite sad women are the already the first batch of evictees in a season that I was hoping that a female housemate would emerge as winner. Still, Don Jazzy regurgitating the patriarchal notion that women always have to support each other is not surprising. Men do not support each other. In fact, men see each other as rivals and competitors and have you watched men watch a football game? Women don’t have to ”agree” or ”support” each other. Besides, Big Brother Naija is a game and the male housemates seem to be playing it better at the moment. The female housemates need to come out with the best play, even if it painfully gets another woman evicted.
