Former Man. United coach, David Moyes moves on to Spanish side, Real Sociedad

by Mark Bassey

Former Manchester United and Everton manager, David Moyes will has been named as the new manager of Spanish team, Real Sociedad.

The club announced the signing in a statement published on their website, where it was revealed that Moyes had agreed to coach Real Sociedad on an 18-month contract.

“Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with David Moyes to be the coach of the first team until June 30, 2016. Tomorrow (Tuesday) the details for his official presentation and the backroom staff led by the Scottish coach will be finalised.”

51-year-old Moyes was sacked in April after ten months in charge of Manchester United.

Sociedad parted way with its former coach, Jagoba Arrasate, last weekend after just one win in their opening 10 league games. The team is currently tied in second-to-last place in La Liga with five other teams after 11 games played so far.

In a recent interview with BBC, Moyes disclosed that he was interested in coaching football clubs beyond the United Kingdom.

He said, “It is something that we don’t report enough — British managers outside the (British) shores. It will actually help the development of coaches, where you can come back and give a bit back to them — tell them the experience you have had working in Spain, Italy, Germany or wherever it may be.”
