Former Kaduna governor, Muktar Muhammed dies at 93

Former military governor of Kaduna State, Muktar Muhammed has died at the age of 93.

Muhammed died on Sunday in a London hospital following a protracted illness.

Lawal Musa, a family source, said the remains of the deceased would be flown to Nigeria for burial.

Muhammed served as the minister of housing, urban development and environment from 1976 to 1977 after the coup that brought Murtala Mohammed, late former head of state, to power.

He was appointed the governor of Kaduna in 1977 after which he was promoted to group captain.

In 2016, Muhammed was named the chairman of the governing council of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
