Commissioners of Finance from the 36 states of the federation, yesterday, protested against what they perceive as the unjust handling of the federation revenue by the Federal Government.

The commissioners were said to have waited for the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Yarima Ngama for hours before deciding to leave the Sheraton, Abuja, venue of the proposed meeting.

Reports say Ngama’s spokesman, Mohammed Nakoji tried in vain to dissuade the commissioners from leaving the venue explaining to them that his boss was held up in a meeting at the Aso Rock Villa.

According to Timothy Odaah, the Chairman of the group and Commissioner of Finance of Ebonyi State, the commissioners were not only acting on the minister’s lateness, he explained that the commissioners are also protesting the irregularity of meetings under Ngama.

He said that the FAAC technical meeting was supposed to hold on a separate day from the plenary, in accordance with the FAAC Act of 1992. The meeting is expected to reconvene today.
