Our fighters are not starving | Boko Haram says in new video

by Azeez Adeniyi

The faction of terrorist group, Boko Haram led by Abubakar Shekau on Tuesday released a video debunking reports that its fighters are dying of hunger, Reuters reports.

The Nigerian military had admitted last week that Shekau was still alive and was desperately searching for him in Sambisa forest.

An unidentified man with a rifle, flanked by others carrying guns, in the five-minute video reportedly said, “There is no food that we lack in this forest of Sambisa. It is not true that we have run out of food supply and that we are being killed by hunger.”

“We urge all members to be one hundred percent loyal to him [Shekau],” he added.

“It is not true that you killed Shekau.”

Shekau did not appear in the video, which was circulated on social media on Tuesday.

The terrorist group had split into two factions last year, after ISIS named Abu Musab al-Barnawi its leader.
