FIFA ranking: Super Eagles drop 9 places, Argentina remain the best

The Super Eagles’ of Nigeria have dropped nine places in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday July 14.

The Eagles are now ranked 17th in Africa, and 70th in the world alongside Congo.

The top five teams in Africa are Algeria, Cote D’Ivoire in second place and Ghana in third. Senegal and Egypt are fourth and fifth respectively.

Despite losing the Copa America to 5th placed Chile, Argentina maintained their top spot as the best footballing nation in the world.

Belgium, Colombia and Germany retained their positions as second, third and fourth respectively.

EURO 2016 champions Portugal are sixth having moved up 2 places while runners-up, France moved up ten places to take the seventh position.

Spain, Brazil and Italy complete the top ten in eighth, ninth and tenth position respectively, as Uruguay and Austria dropped out.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on August 11.
