FG files money laundering charges against Sambo Dasuki, requests secret trial

A new charge of money laundering has been filed by the Federal Government against the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

The added charge was filed at the resumed hearing on Monday, October 26, at the Federal High Court, in Abuja.

The federal government is accusing the former NSA of being in the possession of some cash when his house was raided by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Prosecuting counsel, Shuaib Labaran, would also urge the court to grant its request for a secret trial.

Labaran also prayed that the court allows for the masking of witnesses brought by the DSS.

Dasuki’s lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), however, opposed the request by the government lawyer, pointing out that the case does not require a secret trial, as it is being conducted in a democratic setting.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola, subsequently adjourned the case and fixed Wednesday, October 28, for ruling.
