Why FG is at the mercy of power companies

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday, disclosed that the federal government lacked the right to sanction power generation and distribution companies operating in Nigeria because most government agencies were highly indebted to the power companies.

According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the power ministry, Timothy Oyediji, FG cannot act without due process else government will end up facing multiple law suits.

The Minister further disclosed that several government ministries owe the power distribution companies huge sums of moneys over years of unpaid bills.

Essentially, Nigerians, power distribution companies is holding the federal government’s balls in a death-grip.
