Lagos state Governor Babatunde Fashola has said that he plans to increase the number of roads awarded during his second term to 230 with the reconstruction of 70 more roads in the state.

On Monday during a joint courtesy visit by executive members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Lagos and Ikeja branches, led by Taiwo Taiwo and Monday Ubani respectively, the governor said the reconstruction of more roads would guarantee that areas were motorable in the state.

“We set ourselves the target in the second term to complete about 450 roads. Last year, we awarded about 160 roads. This year, we have awarded about 70 roads. This signifies our intention about road construction this year,” he said.

“We have already completed about half of the roads we set out to achieve. But again, we can only award that much if we were able to complete much. That was why this year’s project was based on completing the inner roads in the state.”

The Punch reports:

Ubani deplored the poor state of the Federal High Court in the state, saying the structure had become  a shadow of itself .

He said, “From our investigation, we found out that the court isn’t functioning. And the judges are having challenges with the issue of accommodation.

“The court is also having challenges with the issue of power supply, most times they spend over N3m monthly in powering the generator. We want the court to function so that it will reduce the congestion in Ikoyi High Court.”
