Entertainment Roundup: Mercy Aigbe’s husband to be investigated for domestic violence, Ciara welcomes baby girl | More stories

The biggest entertainment stories from the weekend and others that unraveled on Sunday night – and still buzzing this morning.

Mercy Aigbe-Gentry took over the weekend starting Friday night…

Starting from news that the Nollywood actress’ marriage to Lagos-based hotelier, Lanre Gentry had crashed based on alleged violence.

Pictures of Mercy Aigbe‘s bloodstained face were everywhere and the actress was reportedly in a private hospital seeking treatment.

Not long, the alleged abuser, Lanre Gentry commented on the situation saying he is still in love with his wife and would never put her through such. In further comments, Mr Gentry wrote that the pictures that were circulated were make-up photos from a movie Mercy had done where she played an abuse victim.

So far, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry is yet to make any public statement but fresh reports have it that she has taken the case to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs.

An official at the agency said, “The case is with us. It was reported here by the victim herself, and because of the governor’s zero tolerance for domestic violence, we are as a matter of urgency investigating the whole drama. It is a good thing that it has also been brought to the public eye. We’re still very much on top of the matter and we’ll get it to its logical conclusion“.
