Davido confirms venue for his December concert

In a post shared on his social media pages on Monday, Davido shared that this year’s edition of his annual concert tagged, ”City of Davido” will be holding – still December 27 – at the Ocean View Grounds, Eko Hotel Plot B, Victoria Island, Lagos.

This follows the controversy that trailed his application for the use of Eko Atlantic.


Netflix reveals first African original series

Netflix plans to invest more of its $8 billion (£6.3 billion) original production budget on African content.

Now…Netflix is to launch its first African original series – Queen Sono – in 2019.

Queen Sono is a drama about a secret agent who fights crime while dealing with crises in her personal life.

The star of the series, South African actor Pearl Thusi, says it’s “going to change the game for every artist on this continent”.

Lagos Police Commissioner orders immediate investigation into assault on Gideon Okeke

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi has ordered an immediate investigation into the assault on Nigerian actor, Gideon Okeke.

“The attention of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Imohimi Edgal has been drawn to a video on the Instablog9ja in which one Gideon Okeke, an actor, was seen alleging that some policemen attached to Maroko Division, brutalised him after a minor road accident involving him and one Mrs Mosunmola Ilori,” a statement released by the commissioner reads.

“Sequel to the allegation, the CP in his usual professional approach to matters of this nature, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department, (SCIID), Panti, Yaba to investigate the matter and turn in her report within one week for appropriate action. The CP assures that nothing will be swept under the carpet and urged all parties in the matter to fully corporate with the investigators. The CP further assures that findings made during inquisition into the matter will be made public as usual.”


“Power” shuts down production after crew member killed

The Starz series “Power” has shut down production after an on-set accident led to the death of a production assistant on Monday.

Pedro Jimenez, 63, was setting up traffic cones for a shoot in Brooklyn when he was struck by a 2006 Ford Explorer, with the driver remaining at the scene until EMS arrived. Jimenez was transported to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating, Variety reports.
