Entertainment Roundup: Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN is 2017’s bestselling album and his mum proves she’s a G in her reaction to the album | More stories

Catch up on everything (almost everything) you missed on the entertainment scene over the weekend and others that unraveled while you slept – and are still buzzing this Monday morning.

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN is the biggest album released in the US this 2017

According to Nielsen music, rapper Kendrick Lamar‘s newest album sold 603,000 copies or its equivalent in download and streaming in the week of its release on April 14.

DAMN has earned the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and sold more than any album released so far in 2017 in a single week.

Drake‘s More Life previously held the record of 2017’s biggest week with 505,000 units sold.

DAMN is Kendrick’s third No. 1 album after last year’s Untitled Unmastered and 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly.

But Kendrick’s mum reviewed the album in one text and proved she’s a G

Ever imagined where Kendrick Lamar must have gotten the genius genes from?

We think we found it…it’s all from his mother.

Kendrick shared his mum, Paula Oliver’s very epic reaction to his DAMN album on Sunday and the internet has been wild with amazement since then.

And Kendrick was just as shocked by her use of emojis. Proud mother!

Saturday was a bit rough for the Nigerian entertainment industry…

Saturday marked the 7th year rapper, Dagrin passed on and conversations went from the circumstances surrounding his death in 2010, his brilliant rap offerings, the forgotten state of his grave and even his legacy.

While we mused on this, the news of veteran Nollywood actor, Olumide Bakare‘s death took over the space. He passed away in the early hours of Saturday after over a year-long battle with heart disease and respiratory issues.

The actor, most popular for his role as Chief Koko in 80’s series Koko Close, had reportedly battled the ailment since 2013 and had retired to his home from where he received treatment as a result of rising hospital bills. He was 65.

Also on Saturday…

Double Wahala singer, Oritse Femi tied the knot with his bride, Nabila Fash at a secret event that held in his Lekki home on Saturday.

The controversial singer who reportedly has children by three other women finally settled for the woman who has been widely described as a “PR expert”.

There was drama too…

This has to be the most unanticipated news of the week.

Davido and Ice Prince got into a dirty, dirty fight at an event organised by night club mogul, Shina Peller in Warri, Delta state.

Reports have it that Davido got a better treatment and got to ride in a G-wagon while Ice Prince was transported in a Saloon car.

As if that was not enough, he was scheduled to perform before Lil Kesh and the Aboki rapper just could not take any of that disrespect so he flared up. But guess who came to Kesh’s rescue and took the fight over to their hotel rooms? Davido.

There’s some good news though…

G-worldwide act, Sugarboy has released his debut album, Believe.

Popular for his hit banger, Hola Hola, Sugarboy hosted some of the biggest stars to his album launch event at Oriental Hotel on Saturday.

The 22-track album features singles like Kilamity, Legalize and of course, Hola Hola.
