Idris Elba to act as villain in ‘Fast and Furious’ spinoff

Idris Elba is in final negotiations with the folks behind the upcoming Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw to play a new villain, Variety reported.

The movie, coming in 2019, will star Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as their popular characters Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.


Writer, Tomi Adesina has accused iROKOtv of copyright infringement

According to Tomi Adesina, iROKOtv adapted her blog series “Beautiful Stranger” into a movie called “Swings,” without her consent.

In a series of tweets, Adesina stated that the names of the major characters, the setting, the dialogue and the plot line of the 2018 movie “Swings” is the same with “Beautiful Stranger,” which she published as a free E-Book in 2015.


Jim Iyke says ‘Movie Producers can no longer afford me’

Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke,  has stated that movie producers can no longer afford his fees and that is why he is no longer seen in many films these days.

In an interview with The NET, the actor said, “I have not been away, it is the producers who cannot afford me.  So, I know my worth. But I have been busy creating opportunities and jobs for Nigerian youths so that we all can live better lives.”

The X3M music act has released a video of her song Aimasiko, featuring legend, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey.

The video, also starring Simi’s band, The Banjos, wraps up the visuals to tracks off her album, Simisola.

Shot and directed by Ani James of Aje Filmworks, Aimasiko highlights daily struggles in life as people search for solutions to their different problems while praying for God’s intervention.

‘First Purge’ slashes $9.3 million on Fourth of July

Universal’s “The First Purge” has launched with a respectable $9.3 million at 3,031 North American locations on the Fourth of July, Variety reports.

The first-day number for “The First Purge,” Blumhouse’s fourth installment in the horror franchise, came in third on the Fourth following Universal’s 13th day of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” with $11.6 million and Disney’s 20th day of “Incredibles 2” with $9.7 million. “Fallen Kingdom” is nearing $300 million domestically, while “Incredibles 2” has topped $468 million.

Sony’s sixth day of “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” came in fourth on the Fourth with $2.6 million to lift its total to $26.3 million. Lionsgate’s “Uncle Drew” and Warner Bros.’ “Ocean’s Eight” each took in $2.2 million on Wednesday.
