Fate of the Furious breaks global record in opening weekend

The eighth part in the Fast and Furious franchise Fate of the Furious has made over £425m in its worldwide debut this Easter weekend, beating the £422m held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.

The movie opened in China where it made a whopping £151m in its first three days.

Fate of the Furious is the first in the franchise without co-star, Paul Walker who died in an accident in 2013.

Directed by F.Gary Gray, the movie has the highest grossing opening by an African-American director ever.

The movie features new stars including Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren.

 

Diplo, Davido, Burna Boy others perform at GidiFest 2017

The fourth edition of the annual Gidi Culture Festival held on Saturday at the Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island.

After a long day of games, sports and networking, the concert opened at 7pm with performances by a number of upcoming artistes.

The crowd was treated to a great mix of sounds by DJ Altims and the fun escalated as bigger artistes like Falana and Simi took the stage.

Although some parts of the show was marred by rain leaving headliners like Sauti Sol and Vanessa Mdee no chance to perform, the party mood was restored with American DJ, producer and half of Major Lazer, Diplo took the stage.

Davido, Burna Boy and Seyi Shay were also live on stage.

 

Wissam Al Mana dedicates emotional note to Janet Jackson weeks after split

It looks like Janet Jackson still has a special place in the heart of billionaire Qatari businessman, Wissam Al Mana.

One week after moving out of their London home following a split, Al Mana took to his website to pen a note he titles “Love” to the singer.

Featuring a black and white photo of Jackson, the note reads, “To the most beautiful person in the world, thank you for your divine love, your eternal support and for being my best friend. I love you so much, inshallah we will be together in the Great Forever x.

The couple were married for five years and welcomed their son, Aissa Al Mana in January 2017.

 

Beyonce celebrates Easter with the Knowles family 

She was billed to perform at Coachella 2017 but cancelled in February following news of her twins pregnancy.

While everyone else including her sister,  Solange partied at the festival, Beyonce celebrated Easter with her mum, Tina Lawson and former Destiny Child member, Kelly Rowland.

Beyonce’s mum shared a photo of the trio with the caption, “3/4th of my girls Missing 1/4 at Coachella.”

Beyonce showed off her growing bump dressed in a white, body-hugging off-shoulder dress and gold flatform sandals.
