Here are some of the stories from yesterday and others that unraveled while you slept – and are still buzzing this morning.
Iyanya opts for Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records and Ubi Franklin is “cool with it”
It’s all love and well wishes from former partner, Ubi Franklin to Iyanya whose move to Mavin Records was announced yesterday by label boss, Don Jazzy.
Weeks ago, Iyanya signed out of MMMG Records, a label he co-owns with Ubi Franklin amidst controversy that was later put to rest by Ubi himself.
At the time, Ubi made it clear that Iyanya was going off to set up his own label that would work in partnership with MMMG and he assured fans that both parties didn’t have any issues.
Yesterday morning however, Iyanya declared that he chose Don Jazzy because he was passionate about putting out more good music and it wasn’t time for him to float his own label yet, as he didn’t have enough time on his hands to manage such.
Ubi Franklin when quizzed about Iyanya’s Mavin gig said, “I am happy he is where great music comes out from”.
Empire star, Taraji Henson gushes over Davido’s music
The world’s favourite Cookie, Taraji P. Henson yesterday shared a screenshot of her playlist and guess who she was listening to. It was How Long by Davido feat Tinashe, one of the tracks off the Son of Mercy EP.
In her caption, Taraji professed her LOVE for WORLD MUSIC and thanked the individual who introduced her to the song.
OBO was quick to jump on this international recognition and might we say, endorsement when he shared a screenshot of Taraji’s page and smartly asked for an opportunity to be featured in the FOX series, Empire.
