Bayelsa Governor, Duoye Diri emerges the victorious party, in the suit levied against him by a governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Timi Alaibe, as the Supreme Court dismisses the case.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal filed by fomer Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, challenging the emergence of Governor Duoye Diri as governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last year’s election.
Alaibe, in the suit, questioned the participation of two delegates who had voted in the primary election that led to Diri’s appointment as the party’s candidate.
The case was however dismissed by a five-man panel of the Supreme Court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour after the panel members pointed out that the issues raised in the appeal were not about the primary election but of the internal affairs of the party. Alaibe’s lawyer, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe, withdrew the appeal; leaving a defeated Alaibe, who had lost the suit at both the Federal High Court in Owerri and the Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal.
Nigerians chided at the news, mocking Timi Alaibe. Some declared that they saw it coming and knew his efforts would all be for nought.

Some advised Timi to try working together with the Bayelsa Governor and rest every need for war. They posited that the case was only going to cause a divide and that Alaibe should have let it go for the common good of the people of Bayelsa.
