EFCC has some words for criminals diverting IDP funds

Business will no longer be the same for individuals involved in the diversion of funds and donations made to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, on Friday, declared war on them.

Magu stated that the EFCC will treat anyone caught in such an act as a criminal, noting that the anti-graft agency is working towards ensuring that corruption is obliterated in the use of resource meant for IDP.

The chairman made this known when he paid a visit to the re-opened Zonal office of the commission in Maiduguri.

He said, “We want to be sure that there is transparency, accountability and judicious use of the money allocated to Internally Displaced Persons in Maiduguri and elsewhere.”

“What we are doing is gathering intelligence but the culprits behind the sufferings in the IDP camps will be invited sooner or later by the EFCC.”
