Okafor Chike John, the Imo Commissioner for Finance and Eche Ezenna George, the state Accountant General have been arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Both men were picked up yesterday over petitions sent to the commission accusing the government officials of allegedly paying a construction company, JPROS International Limited, over a billion naira for a job not done.
The company was said to have collected full payment for the said transaction even though work had not commenced on the project.
The contract led to the impeachment of the deputy governor in the state, Jude Agbaso.
Reports say the two officials arrested in January and granted bail but were never charged with a crime.
